Growing up in Indiana, he began competing in local 4-H and AQHA shows at age 9 before turning to rodeo and roping in high school. His path to reining greatness was paved during his time at the University of Findlay, where he secured a career-shaping internship with NRHA $7 Million Rider Shawn Flarida.

Gabe’s career highlights include:

• Shawn Flarida Apprenticeship: He spent four years as Flarida’s primary assistant, absorbing the techniques that lead to Futurity championships.
• Hutchins Performance Horses: He founded his own training operation in 2004, quickly becoming an NRHA Top 20 Professional.
• Tamarack Ranch Leadership: Since 2016, Gabe has served as the head trainer and manager for Tamarack Ranch. Under his guidance, the ranch relocated from Joseph, Oregon, to its current 200-acre premier facility in Burleson, Texas, becoming the #1 Breeder of Reining Horses in 2024.
